Proposed Revisions for the Measurement of Atmospheric Ozone (Chemiluminescence Method)

EPA is proposing to update a standard parameter – called the absorption cross-section value – used to measure atmospheric ozone. The proposed ozone absorption cross-section value would improve the accuracy of a surface ozone monitoring measurements and reduce the uncertainty in measured ozone concentrations. The current absorption cross-section value was established in 1961. An international group reviewed absorption cross-section measurements in 2019. That group reached consensus on an updated value. This value is currently being implemented worldwide with a target of January 1, 2024, for full implementation. Learn more at: https://www.epa.gov/amtic
