Mercury Air Toxics Standards (MATS)

Posted by [email protected] on Jul. 31, 2020

On Friday, July 17, 2020, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized minor revisions to the 2012 Coal- and Oil-Fired Electric Utility Steam Generating Units National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, known as the Mercury Air Toxics Standards (MATS). This final action identifies data elements to be reported electronically by power plants using the Emissions Compliance and Monitoring Plan System Client Tool and extends the submission of certain reports using portable document format file through December 31, 2023. While this final action changes the format and mechanism for electronic reporting, it does not change the compliance information already required by the current rule.

A fact sheet and pre-publication version of the final rule may be accessed here: https://www.epa.gov/mats/mercury-and-air-toxics-standards-power-plants-final-electronic-reporting-revisions
