The A&WMA Lake Michigan States Section and the Union League Club Environmental Committee are pleased to invite you to join us for a breakfast briefing webinar to hear Douglas Farr with Farr Associates speak on a Carbon Free Chicago.

The Climate Emergency is the defining existential crisis of our times, yet society struggles to take meaningful action to address it.  Most people think that climate action should start with national policies and laws, but this path will take too long.  Climate Change Chicago offers a local, scrappy, bottom-up, theory of change.  This session will change how you think about how time, culture, the Climate Emergency, and one’s life work.

Douglas Farr leads Chicago-based Farr Associates a pioneering architecture and urban design firm which designs loveable, and sustainable places and buildings. Doug is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the Congress for New Urbanism. He co-chaired the development of LEED-Neighborhood Development and authored two books: Sustainable Urbanism (2008) and Sustainable Nation (2018). In 2017 Planetizen named him one of “the 100 most influential urbanists of all time.” A native Detroiter he is an architecture graduate of the University of Michigan and Columbia University. In 2020 he started Carbon Free Chicago, a thirty-year campaign for the timely and equitable transition to a fossil-free region.
