EPA Tightens PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) – What That Could Mean for Region 5

Monday, March 25, 2025
12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

On February 7th, U.S. EPA released its final rule tightening the national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for fine particulate matter (PM2.5), adopting a lower annual limit of 9 micrograms per cubic meter (ug/m3) from its prior level of 12 ug/m3, but declining to tighten a daily limit.  States will have until February 2025 to designate areas as either attaining the new annual limit or being in nonattainment, with the first compliance deadlines beginning six years later in 2032.

This webinar will focus on the technical aspects of EPA’s final rule, as well as potential implications in Region 5 states for new nonattainment areas requiring additional controls.

The A&WMA Lake Michigan States Section and the Union League Club Environmental Committee are pleased to invite you to join us for an environmental briefing webinar for this update and discussion on the new PM2.5 NAAQS rule.
